What to Bring

Please read the following notes carefully and make sure that everyone in the party has all the gear listed available. You will be in the Blue Mountains, 1000 metres above sea level and a lot cooler than Sydney and other coastal areas: always be prepared for cold weather!

Beginners Abseiling, Day Walks

  • Comfortable clothes that can get a bit dirty and are a loose fit (be ready for warm and cold weather)
  • Full Length T-Shirt
  • Walking shoes (runners)
  • Rain and wind jacket
  • Sun hat
  • Jumper (more in winter!)
  • Sun screen
  • Camera!

Mountain Biking

  • Comfortable clothes that can get a bit dirty (be ready for warm and cold weather) cycling shorts are very comfortable
  • Walking shoes (runners)
  • Rain and wind jacket
  • Jumper (more in winter!)
  • Sun screen
  • Small backpack for water and jacket
  • Cycling or other gloves (optional)
  • Camera!

Abseiling Expeditions, Rock Climbing

  • Comfortable clothes that can get a bit dirty and are a loose fit (be ready for warm and cold weather)
  • Full Length T Shirt
  • Walking shoes (runners)
  • Rain and wind jacket
  • Sun hat
  • Jumper (more in winter!)
  • Sun screen
  • Backpack
  • 1 litre water bottle
  • Climbing Shoes:  we include them at no extra charge
  • Camera!

Summer Canyoning

  • Full Length T shirt
  • Shorts or thin, long pants (won’t get your legs scratched in thick bush)
  • Shoes that can get wet (Volleys have excellent grip on slippery rock)
  • Warm socks (wool is best)
  • Rain and wind jacket; essential emergency equipment on all full day canyons
  • Jumper or fleece jacket; essential emergency equipment on all full day canyons
  • 1 litre (min) water bottle
  • Swimmers
  • Optional: thermal underwear, dry shoes & socks.

Winter Canyoning

  • Backpack
  • Warm underwear (thermal t-shirt and long johns)
  • Shorts or thin, long pants that dry quickly (won’t get your legs scratched in thick bush)
  • Jumper or fleece jacket
  • Shoes that can get wet (Volleys have excellent grip on slippery rock)
  • Warm socks (wool is best)
  • Spare thermals; essential emergency equipment on all full day canyons in case you fall into the water
  • Rain and wind jacket; essential emergency equipment on all full day canyons
  • Torch or head torch
  • 1 litre water bottle
  • Beanie or woollen hat
  • Gloves (optional)
