Gobsmacker Canyon
Gobsmacker Canyon (known to less poetic souls as Lower North Bowens) delivers a full day adventure through towering sandstone walls, lush rainforest gullies, crystal clear pools and dramatic abseils beside waterfalls.
With extended swims, scrambles and two thrilling roped descents, this hidden canyon in the Mount Wilson area of Blue Mountains National Park is a breathtaking blend of natural beauty and heart-pumping challenge.
The adventure begins with a hike into a lush rainforest gully, where towering tree ferns and coachwood create a world invisible from the trail above.
Entering the canyon via the first of two abseils, we’ll make our way through the canyon via a series of jumps, waterfall abseils and longer swims. Floating on your back through narrow slots between moss-clad sandstone walls with blue sky framed far above, the silence is profound, broken only by the sound of water guiding you deeper into this natural cathedral.
Reaching the junction with Bowens Creek South, we emerge from the canyon via a steep scramble, then begin the walk out.
If you are fit and have abseiling and canyoning experience, this may be the canyon for you! Feel free to call the office to discuss whether this canyon is suitable for your group.
We have no hidden costs or credit card fees!
A free waterproof camera is provided with every trip to capture and share images of your day.
