Haidan and Bri were truly exceptional hosts. Their level of detail to explain each step to beginners as we progressed through the day was very reassuring. Not only the exhilaration to safely abseil but an almost magical cavern and a huge waterfall to also rappel was in my top 10 lifetime experiences. Squared away outfit and professional here.
It was a wonderful and amazing experience. though haven’t done all the activities.
Thanks for the guide cuz they were friendly.
Our family of 4 met up with our fellow adventurers at Katoomba at 8:45am Saturday morning for a day of abseiling and canyoning. Together with our erstwhile guides Tim and Yuri we set out for Narrow Neck and a morning of abseiling, starting with a 5metre abseil and progressing to a 30 metre abseil. some of our party had not abseiled before and some had some experience, but all were handled with professionalism and empathy by our very competent and personable guides. A beautiful sunny autumn day with magnificent views just added more to our day.
Back in the bus (10 seater) for a short drive to Wentworth Falls for a picnic lunch for a rather hungry group after a morning abseiling, then a walk with our gear to the start of the Empress Canyon. After changing into our wetsuits we walked downstream for about 5 minutes to our first pool jump from about 2 metres height, exhilarating. Tim and Yuri gave everyone full consideration and advice at every jump, or slide and were ever watchful, instilling confidence in the entire group.
This canyon ends with a 30metre abseil down a waterfall! What a fantastic climax to an incredible, if somewhat exhausting day.
This just left the many , many stairs to get back to the bus. The beer back at the office was indeed welcomed and refreshing, but probably not as refreshing as my twin 14yo boys saying: “Thanks Dad, that was an awesome day!”
I think Tim and Yuri deserve the thanks, it was truly awesome.
I did the abseiling and Empress Canyon day and had so much fun. If it’s not the best thing I do this trip I’d be surprised.
The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and reassuring, it was easy to tell we were in good hands. They also gave good hiking advise for the rest of my time in the Blue Mountains.
The scenery for both abseiling in the morning and canyoning in the afternoon was unbeatable.
I’m travelling on my own so the small group meant that I had a good opportunity to make some new friends along the way too.
All in all a fantastic day. Can’t recommend it enough.
Wow , What a Fun Packed Day of Total Adventure in the Blue Mountains!!!
We spent the morning learning and practicing (Our Safety was of course Paramount), abseiling from easy to more challenging rock faces with Stunning Views along Narrow Neck Plateau and the endless Vistas of Wilderness and Distant Ranges.
Then a Yummy Lunch under the Eucalyptus watched by hopeful Cockatoos and Kookaburras.
Next was a short hike through the rainforest to the upper entry to Empress Canyon.
The Ancient carved rock walls became higher and higher as we descended, floated and jumped from rock pool to rock pool ever deeper into this ancient canyon.
The Ultimate Finale was a Dramatic waterfall abseil and swim in the pool below.
An Adrenal Pumped and Unforgettable Day in Breath Taking locations.
A Must Do!!!!
My friends and I did the Empress Canyon which involved a morning of abseiling followed by an afternoon canyoning which ended in an abseil down a waterfall.
We had not originally planned on doing this canyon as we wanted to do a full day canyoning however we were advised a few days before hand that the water was too cold and that they recommended that we switched to the Empress Canyon.
This turned out to be a great shout, Tim our guide was amazing and we had a really good day. The water was freezing but we soon warmed up in our wet suits!
We had a GoPro but they also provided a waterproof camera for the day and uploaded the photos onto Facebook the next morning which was really good.
I’d love to go back in the summer and try the other canyons, just need to plan another trip to Australia!
